Once you are beyond the beginner stage of playing you should be playing with the best bow you can afford. Bows make a world of difference in how your playing feels and in how your insrument sounds. Since the bow is the tool that transfers all of our tallents and creativity to the instrument, better bows make us better players. Please take a moment to look at our selection of bows for the intermediate player. We also invite you to come in and play our bows. Bows on this page are price between $600 and $1200 and are well worth every penny.

Violin Bows

  • 2 Violin Bows by Iesta: Carbon Fiber stick with a Pernambuco veneer, Ebony frog trimmed in nickel: $650
    Iesta starts with a great Carbon Fiber stick and then adds a pernambuco veneer around it. This does two things: first, it looks like wood but the most important thing is that now your stick is more complex than it was without the veneer adding tone color not found in regular carbon fiber bows.

    A fine contemporary German bow maker. This bow has octangonal stick, is well balanced and easy to play.
  • Violin Bow by Gotz: Brazilwood stick, Ebony frog trimmed in Silver: $700
    The C.A. Gotz company, Markneukirchen, is a 4 generation family of violin & bow makers. Founded in 1884, the company is still owned and operated by the Gotz family. Their bows are excellent and come in many different price ranges. They are either made by and stamped: Conrad Gotz or Conrad Gotz Jr., or are made by one of their other excellent bow makers and stamped: Gotz.

    As mentioned above, another fine bow made by the C.A. Gotz family. This bow is stamped Conrad Gotz.

    Born in 1854, he became one of Germany's foremost bow makers. Made bows in all price ranges. This is a fine example of his workmanship.
  • Violin Bow by Lothar Herrman: Pernambuco stick, Ebony frog trimmed in nickel: $975
    Born in 1914 in Schonlind. An outstanding bow maker with two hundred years of family bow making history. A rustic, octagonal, well balanced stick that plays smoothly and easily.

    Both of these bows were made by the same Herrmann family as the above bow by Lother. A great family of bow makers and these are fine examples of their work.

    Born in 1871, Markneukirchen, another on of Germany's fine bow makers. This is an excellent bow, well crafted, balanced, and weighs 60.4gr

    A fine round stick, strong and well balanced, yet not too stiff. A very nice playing bow.
